Bio
Author, singer and musician, DANAE ESTRELA was born in Cuba, grew-up in Cabo Verde islands and is based in Portugal since many years. Deeply influenced by the Cabo Verde music, she has been looking for new music paths. Her expression, poetry and music reflect the creativity of a new generation of crioulos. Her album « Condição de Louco » (2005), was considered by the press as the “music revelation of the year”. This album was also considered one of the ten best albums of this year by the Blitz Magazine. In 2005 she collaborates with the independent film maker Sharunas Bartas, writing several songs for his next film. In 2006, she presents several concerts in Green Cap with local musicians guests. In 2009 she set up the band “Danae & os novos crioulos”, putting together musicians of different origins and styles. This unique sound and mixture inspired and influenced her second álbum “Cafuca” (2009) presented in a worldwide tour until 2013. She is now preparing her new project.
