Bio

Songwriter, composer, music producer, DJ, drummer, percussionist and performer. Ricardo Imperatore forms part of a small group of composing DJs that play a unique repertoire, merging the tropical Brazilian style with more avant-garde electronic music. Between 1995 and 2000, Imperatore collaborated with artists such as Natalie Cole, Suzanne Vega, Men at Work, Midnight Oil, Marisa Monte, Titas, Tom Capone, Monobloco, Ivo Meirelles, Cassiano and many others. From 2001 onwards, Imperatore began dipping into the world of electronic music, launching the boTECOeletro project. This project is influenced by Brazilian folk music, classical music, pop and traditional music. boTECOeletro was awarded the prize for the best electronic album of 2005 at the Brazilian Music Awards (“Prémios da Música Brasileira”), the equivalent of the Grammy Awards. In 2012, Imperatore launched boTECOeletro Vol. 2, which was once again nominated as the best electronic album at the 2013 Brazilian Music Awards. This record’s success was such that Imperatore was invited to perform at the 2013 Rock in Rio festival. The artist has already been on tour across Europe, the U.S., Latin America and Africa, performing in New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, Vienna, Turin, Bologna, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Porto, Copenhagen, Antwerp, Lichtenstein, Mexico City, La Paz, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, amongst others.
