Bio
Tiago Videira is a Creative Mind within the areas of music and literature. He is now a researcher holding a PhD fellowship in Digital Media in the framework of the UT Austin-Portugal Program, funded by FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology), specialization in Audiovisual and Interactive Content Creation, having lived two years in Austin as a visiting researcher. He has a Masters in Philosophy – Aesthetics and degree in Musicology. Recent works in music include the soundtrack of the first season of the animation series “The World of Snowboy and Crow” and the final credits on the documentary “"Dreams: Cinema of the Subconscious”, as well as the ambient albums (with songbooks) “Toy Portugal” and “Dances and Dreams”. Tiago composed dozens of songs including fados and marches, intervention and pop, several solo piano pieces (namely the suite “Evocations”), and some works for various types of instrumental ensembles. He was a finalist of the competition “Best Fado and Best Song” in the contest CAAM - SPA with the song “Névoa”. Tiago is also a fiction writer, having earned the Prize “Young Writers 2006” with the work “Galactic Tales”, which was later published. He collaborated with DN Jovem since 2005 until the extinction of the literary supplement. He also published the fiction novel “O Castelo do Louco”. Additionally, Tiago Videira took part in many workshops and Summer Schools and developed work with names like Prof. Bruce Pennycook (University of Austin), Tomás Henriques or Jaime Reis in the domains of Interactive, Film and Electroacoustic music. Research interests Generative algorithmic and Interactive Music, Computational Musicology, Aesthetics of Music, Popular Music, Composition, Performance studies, Portuguese music and culture.
