Bio

João Ferreira Gomes was born in Lisbon on May 5, 1972. He made use of his parents' piano at the early age of 8 to start learning music. Immersed in music in his childhood home, he listened to a wide range of genres, from classical music to Portuguese artists like Zeca Afonso, Sérgio Godinho, and José Mário Branco, as well as international icons like Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, the Beatles, and Moody Blues. At the age of 14, he had his debut as a keyboardist in a band. Since then, he has collaborated with various bands and artists, including LX90, Delfins, Polo Norte, Rita Redshoes, Mazgani, Bloom (JP Simões), and Luta Livre (Luís Varatojo), among many others. In 1993, he moved to London with one of these bands, LX90, after a short European tour. He performed at iconic venues such as the Marquee, Underworld, and Dublin Castle. Back in Portugal, he had the honor of performing on prestigious stages such as the Coliseum of Lisbon and Porto, Campo Pequeno, and several renowned music festivals, including Sudoeste, Paredes de Coura (three times), Vilar de Mouros (twice), and SBSR. Always intrigued by the world of sound synthesis and the possibilities that digital audio processing brings to music recording and performance, he decided to pursue a sound engineering course at SAE London in 1997. In 2003, he returned to Lisbon, where, in addition to his role as a musician, he has worked as a sound technician and music producer. This multifaceted experience has given him a broader perspective on orchestration and arrangement, expanding his compositional horizons. His musical approach stands out for his unconventional harmonies and the fusion of electronic instruments with acoustic elements. He has a particular inclination towards electronic music, pop, rock, indie rock, and film and game soundtracks. His ability to blend electronic and acoustic elements results in captivating and emotionally engaging musical creations.
